Abstract
: The present study aimed to analyze and describe researches that address the attachment theory in old age. The method used was an integrative literature review, with the following descriptors: attachment and later life; or older life; or aging; attachment relationships, the research consulted databases such as: Bireme, EBSCO, AgeLine, Medline, APA Psycnet, resulting in 10 articles from the last 05 years and others added for theoretical foundation. The results pointed to the following themes: patterns of child attachment and the repercussions on old age; attachment and care styles; attachment to the home territory; attachment and religion; addiction and health prevention. Through the studies, it was possible to conclude the importance of the secure attachment style as a psychological protection factor, mainly in relation to the losses that result from this stage of life. Finally, the topic needs longitudinal, empirical studies to understand the behavior of attachment throughout life.
