Abstract
This paper discusses the Predictive Torque Control (PTC) applied to three three-phase fault-tolerant induction machine drive systems operating under a single-phase open-circuit fault. Performed simulations and experiments prove that PTC-based fault compensation strategies provides proper fault-tolerant operation. Furthermore, a performance comparison between Field Oriented Control (FOC) and PTC is carried out, which shows that PTC provides a smoother and faster transient response when the system migrates from healthy to post-fault operation, while FOC provides steady-state lower current ripple.
