An Exploring Places to Worship Group for Recipients of Psychiatric Services

Abstract

The author discusses factors that impact on involvement in faith communities by people with serious mental illness. She notes recent research documenting the religious resource needs of psychiatric inpatients. A group designed along the psychiatric rehabilitation model which helps services recipients to clarify their values related to faith communities and consider the process of connecting with a community is described. Experience providing the group is discussed.
