User participation in mobile money innovation in developing countries

Abstract

The main goal of this PhD is to produce knowledge that will shape the future of financial inclusion innovations design. For the innovations to be inclusive there is need to reframe IS design through local perspectives. I hope to develop and test a conceptual framework that will reconceptualise the user participation construct by locating it in a developing country context and to explore how this local context influences user participation's relation with system success. On this basis, the goal of this study is to develop a framework that focuses on the multi-dimensional aspects of user participation in system design and the objectives of are to (1) identify the different dimensions of user participation in a developing country context, and (2) determine the best approach to user participation in a successful IS solution for a developing country user.
