Abstract

A partially polycrystalline specimen generation method is presented. It is based on polycrystalline geometrical description package Neper, which provides optimal polyhedral description of polycrystals from experimental properties. The method allows to obtain partially polycrystalline specimen geometrical model and finite-element mesh of good quality. Example was provided for tensile specimen with highly grained cuboidic polycrystalline middle part. The method is general and so can be applied for any specimen, thought shape of highly grained part of specimen must be convex. The presented algorithm for tensile specimen generation are implemented and distributed in the open-source software package Tenspec.
