Abstract
PV and cascaded hydro generation coalition system is able to produce electricity using 100% clean and zero-carbon energy, which is a promising technology to mitigate global warming. Due to the fact that water flow and power flow are coupled in spatiotemporal via the river and transmission lines, the coordination between PV and cascaded hydropower is extremely complicated. In this paper, a coordinated operation model of PV and cascaded hydropower is proposed to maximize the total revenue. The power grid security constraints are considered with the DC power flow. In addition, the piecewise linear approximation method is employed to relieve the computational burden of nonlinear optimization problem. The validity of the proposed operation model is demonstrated using the modified six-bus test system.
