Abstract
In this paper, the 4th order Runge-Kutta method (1) has been used to study the dispersion characteristics of single mode optical fiber, especially the effect of axial index dip on the dispersion characteristics. And hence a new type of index profile, Laguerre-Lorentz profile, with low dispersion in wide spetrum range has been found.
