The DSP system-a visual system to support teaching of programming

Abstract

A programming environment, the DSP system, for use with introductory courses in programming is presented. The system consists of a programming language, a syntax-oriented editor and a run-time system, all highly visual. The authors suggest that from this environment, the transition to traditional (imperative) programming languages is easy.<>
