Calculating Transmission Line Transients on Personal Computers

Abstract

This paper presents calculations of transient EM voltages and currents on a non-uniform transmission line. The emphasis is on demonstrating how such transient response calculations can be efficiently made using personal computers. Results will be presented using both custom-designed programs and commercially available spreadsheets such as Microsoft's ExcelTM.
