Feedback Linearization Based Non-linear AVR for Small Signal Stability Enhancement

Abstract

This paper discusses the designing of non-linear voltage regulator for single machine infinite bus system. The linear model of non-linear voltage regulator is developed using feedback linearization method. The combining unit of static IEEEST1 voltage regulator and power system stabilizer has been replaced by non-linear voltage regulator. Synchronous machine model 1.1 is used for simulations of the combining system and non-linear voltage regulator system. The small signal stability of single machine infinite bus system (SMIB) is verified through eigenvalues analysis of combining system and a non-linear voltage regulator. The non-linear simulations are also carried out using combining system and non-linear AVR.
