Abstract
This study proposes a novel bidirectional converter configuration for induction motor EV application with additional functionality of V2G and G2V application. The intended application is for electric passenger four wheeler being developed by M/S Quinergy Electric Pvt and Ltd,Pune. The converter consist of frontend bidirectional dc/dc converter followed by three phase voltage source bidirectional inverter feeding three phase induction motor. During motoring operation the low potential of the battery is boosted to the high potential dc link and feed to the motor via inverter similarly during the regenerative mode the kinetic energy has to be stored in battery so during that mode the inverter works as rectifier using its anti-parallel diodes and the voltage at dc link has to be buck and charge the battery. The control strategy to generate the switching pulses for dc/dc bi-directional converter is done by using PI controller and the switching for inverter has been done with space vector modulation with controlling the induction motor by indirect field oriented control. The choosen converter configuration is such that the battery charging G2V as well as V2G application will be accomplished without any additional circuit.
