Abstract
This paper describes a proposed multifunctional on-the-move survivable adaptive integrated communications (MOSAIC) advanced technology demonstration (ATD). The MOSAIC ATD focuses on integrating a highly adaptive communications infrastructure that supports the seamless flow of multimedia services across terrestrial and space based platforms. A wireless communications architecture that supports multi-media applications, quality of service (QoS) for streamed services, ad-hoc networking, bandwidth management and traffic scaling is involved. The MOSAIC ATD demonstrates that this networked communication system architecture can provide a commander with the ability to disperse command post elements (e.g. vehicles) quickly, support dispersed operations and provide a mobile reach-back capability linked through the airborne communications node (ACN) or space based platforms. The program is proposed to begin in 2000 and will extend to 2004.
