Green libraries: General trends and unique approaches

Abstract

The concepts of green library, green librarianship, and sustainable libraries have become popular in the library community and have been intensively examined in the publications and materials on the webpage of IFLA Environment, Sustainability and Libraries Section (further ENSULIB). Since 2016, the contest IFLA Green Library Award has been held. The Award materials make the valuable source of information and inspiration for the libraries. The author attempts to systematize the approaches to establishing green libraries and to draw attention on the most interesting winner projects and ideas.
