Petri net modeling of information flow in the online train ticket booking system

Abstract

Trains are a main kind of transportation tools in China. Aiming at solving the inconvenience problem of buying a ticket, the Ministry of Railways of PRC developed an online train ticket booking system called 12306 website (http://www.12306.cn). In this paper, the online ticket booking system is analyzed by using the Petri net modeling method, furthermore, the PIPE software is used to draw a Petri net graph and obtain the incidence matrix. The obtained incidence can play an important role in the further analysis of the system performance.
