Abstract

This paper describes the single cell based detection and collection system based on respiration or metabolic activity. The micro-arrayed chemical sensors, which we have already developed, were used for parallel monitoring of single cell activity. These sensors consist of optical sensor film for pH or oxygen, and micro well array prepared with carbon black doped PDMS. We have succeeded in a parallel monitoring for single cell respiration activity by using a microarrayed oxygen sensor. We have also developed the automatic single cell collection instrument which can be equipped with a commercial inverted microscope.
