Abstract

We investigated the effect of morphing the avatar’s voice from the user’s voice on its impressions. We also investigated whether the image of morphing differed between those who liked and disliked their voice. The experiment was conducted by morphing the acoustic parameters such as fundamental frequency, spectral envelope, and aperiodic component based on the acoustic signals recorded by the participants themselves, and investigating their impressions of an avatar speaking with that voice. The result showed that those who liked their voice were most impressed by their original voice, while those who disliked it were more impressed by the morphed voice. This suggests that people who dislike their voice tend to seek their ideal in the avatar’s voice.
