Preliminary stratigraphic cross section showing radioactive zones in the Devonian black shales in eastern Ohio and west-central Pennsylvania

Abstract

The purpose of this cross section, which is one of a series, is to provide a preliminary regional stratigraphic framework and provisional nomenclature as a base for future detailed mapping and geologic analyses of the Devonian black shales. Data from the stratigraphic studies will be used by DOE in conjunction with rock property and engineering investigations to increase the natural gas yield in the black shale by improved stimulation techniques.
