Abstract
The need for a low power step-down voltage converter which can provide isolation rises as technology progresses. With this, a closed loop flyback converter design is presented that can be beneficial for devices with low power requirement. The specific design has 12V to 3.3V step down voltage with 1 A output current rating that can be useful for applications such as standby voltage for computer power supply units (PSU) and also for other portable purposes needing low voltage requirement. In this paper, the switching mode topology requires a 12V supply from either a battery or a DC power supply. The closed loop operation of the boost converter is assisted by the UC3843 current mode controller. As for the results and with regulation provided, the input voltage range varies from 9V to 24V and can still provide an acceptable output voltage of 3.3V.
