Abstract

Costal pollution and seawater quality monitoring requires underwater sensors to be properly and regularly measured. This paper introduces an innovative prototype of reliable electromagnetic based wireless submarine communication system adapted to a medium-range telemetry application. This work, starting from the study of seawater properties describes the design and simulation results of antennas, matching circuits and modulation techniques to optimize the link budget and data rate between a surface buoy and underwater probes.
