Abstract

This paper discusses the model updating problem for undamped gyroscopic systems. A quadratic inverse eigenvalue problem of determining the system from the complete information about eigenvalues and eigenvectors is solved, moreover, the existence condition and solution to the constructional problem are obtained. Based on the results of the inverse problem, the method for updating mass, gyroscopic and stiffness matrices is presented. Using the method, the condition for the solvability of the model updating problem, the concrete expressions of the solution and the related numerical method are proposed.
