Abstract

This work presents a comparison between the ladder and the cascade connection of the ladder step-down switched-capacitor cell. The paper studies both connections and also proposes a mix of both. All of them are compared to the same input voltage and the number of switches. The comparison approaches issues as static gain, the voltage and current stress, voltage regulation, and efficiency. The comparison is carried out by checking a conversion from 48 V to 3 or 6 V using only switched capacitors. Theoretical analysis are corroborated by simulation results.
