Abstract
In this contribution we propose a Media Access Control (MAC) Protocol for personal communications which combines features from Packet Reservation Multiple Access (PRMA) [1)[2] and Demand Assignment or Reservation MA [3][4]. This protocol is thought to work in a microcellular environment providing both voice and data services with low power terminals. Multiplexing should be performed at talkspurt level in order to increase the system capacity. In this kind of enviroment, signalling traffic may be higher than in traditional cellular networks, due to the number of hand-over and roaming operations. This traffic may be greater if the mobile system is required to support some supplementary ISDN services andlor Inteligent Network services.
