Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the problem-based learning model on the ability to write procedural texts for class XI students of SMK Negeri Unggul 2 Banyuasin III. This research method uses the experimental method. The approach used in this study uses a quantitative approach. The number of samples is as many as 48 students consisting of 24 class XI students. MM1 as the experimental class and 24 students in class XI. ATP 2 as a control class. The technique of collecting data was using a procedure text writing test technique in both groups. Test requirements analysis used normality, homogeneity, paired-samples, and data hypothesis testing. Data analysis was calculated using a computer program, SPSS version 22.0. Based on the analysis results through the t-test Paired sample test, it is known that the t-count value of the experimental class is 9.14 higher than the t-count value of the control class 6.8. In addition, the results of the t-test (independent sample t-test) showed that the t-value of posttest data was 7,390, which was greater than the t-table value of 2,069, respectively, df 46 and = 0.05, 2-tailed. It can be concluded that there is a significant effect of using problem-based learning models on the ability to write procedural texts for class XI students of SMK Negeri Unggul 2 Banyuasin III compared to conventional models.
