As an alternative solution for unpavement secondary roads projects, lime stabilized soils has been proposed. In many cases, fine content limits established in local regulations are exceded, and the original soil composition needs to be modified to ensure a long-term stability under construction and operation phases. To establish the physical and mechanical behaviour of lime stabilizated soils, basic laboratory tests were performed in order to establish the optimum range design of these modified materials. California Bearing Ratio tests (CBR) and direct shear tests in remoulded compacted samples have been performed to check the resistance changes for compacted soil samples and compacted samples with lime additions.
