ABSTRACT: Considering the importance of mining for the Brazilian economy, as well as the current regulatory scenario for the closure of mines, one must bear in mind, inseparably, the need to promote the restoration of areas degraded by mining. Therefore, preventive measures or rehabilitation of these areas need to be adopted, since the impacts generated can be immeasurable. In order to instigate reforestation and inhibit erosion, it was proposed to apply a product composed of galvanized screens with retaining bands, made from geosynthetics. After ten years of exposure, the constituent elements of the installed product were exhumed to assess the integrity of the system after the exposure period.
