Broadband Forum specifies bulk data collection of CPE in WT-232 document, a mechanism that supports Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) consumes a large of system resource of data collector to maintain the connections with all of the managed CPEs. In this research, we propose a light-weight periodic data collection mechanism which uses one-way Trap with XDR (eXternal Data Representation) encoding format specified in WT-232, and transferred from the CPE by UDP which is considered as a light-weight transport protocol. We also illustrate the implementation and integration procedure for the proposed data collection and TR-069 mechanism of the managed CPEs. The proposed approach reduces the traffic loading of the data collector for a great quantity of TR-069 managed CPEs with well-defined TR-069 data model parameters.
