Abstract
This paper deals with a comparative study between Proportional Integral (PI) and Sliding Mode in control of a doubly fed induction generator to feed power to the grid. Modeling of the DFIG in d-q frame reference is presented and the field-oriented strategy is applied. We use PI and sliding mode techniques respectively to control the rotor side converter (RSC) and the grid side converter (GSC). Simulation results show the interesting performance of the two controllers in term of tracking reference, sudden change of rotor speed, and robustness against parameters variations
