STUDIES ON THE INHALATION ANESTHESIA OF THE PIG I CLINICAL OBSERVATIONS ON THE PREMEDICATION OF PIGLETS

Abstract

Premedication for the inhalation anesthesia of swine was studied using 125 piglets (10-40 kg b.w.) on the following 8 drugs, promazine hydrochloride, phencyclidine hydrochloride, diazepam, d-tubocurarine chloride, succinylcholine chloride, guaicol glycerine ether, thiopental sodium and pentobarbital sodium. With the sedative effect on piglets satisfactory results were obtained with 0.05 mg/kg d-tubocurarine chloride i.m., 10-20 mg/kg thiopental sodium i.p. and 15-30 mg/kg pentobarbital sodium i.m. or 25 mg/kg i.p..
