Abstract

This paper firstly reviews the development of spoof surface plasmons (SSPs) from the historical point of view and discusses their connections with surface wave structures in microwave community. Although SSPs share the same principle as the surface wave structures in microwave community, it unifies plasma-like surface waves at both optics and microwave frequencies. In the second part of this paper, we briefly review some of recent research works on SSPs for microwave transmission line and antenna applications.
