Abstract

There is a demanding need for manufacturers to reduce the escape rate on inspection of golf balls. Vision-based inspection is then proposed to fulfill this need. This paper presents a preliminary work on the development of a visual inspection system for golf logos. This preliminary work includes the development of a vision-based mechanism to control the orientation of golf logos for automatic inspection. Included in this work is also the development of a logo matching method, which emphasizes the importance of using the size, shape, topology, and spatial relations of logo contours.
