Abstract

Development of synchronized phasor measurements is one of the most significant developments in the area of power systems in recent times. A lot of research is being conducted in their applications and optimal placement as well. However, more efforts are needed to develop models of Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) which can be directly utilized in power system simulations without the need for spending money or efforts to update the model algorithm each time the system parameters change. We have addressed this issue in this paper by implementing a PMU model which is highly configurable and easy to use. It can also serve as a teaching aid for engineering students to help them learn about synchronized phasor measurements.
