Abstract

This paper presents a derivation of the effects of jitter on a RF pulsewidth modulated (RFPWM) all-digital polar transmitter. A full analysis of the effects of jitter on the transmitter's amplitude and phase error is provided, along with a derivation of the harmonic behavior with regards to jitter. These derived relations can be used in the design and specification of future RFPWM systems. All assertions are verified through circuit simulations of a RFPWM polar modulator in 65nm CMOS.
