Abstract

Lighting systems are omnipresent and their electrical and electronic components become increasingly complex — thus their interference potential also increases and needs to be carefully assessed. This paper looks at a luminaire from a network point of view, describing the wiring and geometry of the gear tray as an N-port network, and critical components as excitation and load for that network. The aim is to find a characterisation that is more suitable to predict the electromagnetic behaviour in an actual installation than is currently possible, when measuring the emission only under defined, but artificial conditions.
