Abstract

A compact low profile wideband antenna is developed and discussed. Its basic geometry is derived from the circular cavity following repetitive segmentation along the quasi-magnetic wall to obtain the 16th mode geometry. Aperiodic slots have been etched out alternatively from the top metallic surface, the thickness of which has been varied in a log period fashion to obtain wideband operation from the antenna. The ground plane has been engineered for quasi-omnidirectional radiation characteristics.
