Abstract

A model of packet traffic transmission over a communication link as a queuing system is proposed to evaluate the impact of traffic value on Packet Delay Variation (PDV), especially for precise time protocol (PTP) in environment case with limited time traffic loading window and high priority PTP packets. An approach is proposed to estimate the latency and standard deviation of background traffic and to estimate the effect of the PTP rate on these parameters.
