Portrayal of Kashmir Terrorism in Bollywood Films: A Critical Analysis of Films: Roja, Mission Kashmir and Haider

Abstract

Kashmir valley over the years witnessed a huge socio-political change which has not just affected the people living there but the industries also. Bollywood is one such industry which was badly affected by the disturbances in the valley. The films made before 1990s and after that, have a lot of differences’ not just in terms of number of films made per year but thematic difference as well. A sudden change was seen in films made on Kashmir after 1990s where terrorism and related issues dominated the subject of such films. The research paper tried to look into the subject of films made after the revolt started in the valley, besides, the portrayal of Kashmir issue in such films.
