Abstract
The well known Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) has been in use at transport layer for many years. Various versions have been derived to face different user and network requirements. Reliability and fairness are among the most demanding challenges for TCP. Reliability can be enhanced by incorporating the idea of Multipath TCP (MPTCP) thus letting TCP transmits on multiple paths. In this work we investigate TCP’s performance in large scale networks. We also propose a new Time Division Route Switching (TDRS) approach for load balancing and validate its benefits via simulations.
