Abstract
Modern radar systems require target simulators to test all the functional requirements of radar as many times real targets are not available for radars for critical functionality test. Moreover, radar systems have been more complex and involve many subsystems. These subsystems are also required to be tested during their development stages to solve unforeseen problems that may occur otherwise in field integration. Radar Target Simulators (RTS) are one of the many tools for testing radar at RF level. Its features enable in testing radar critical parameters. These tests are critical for radar mission preparedness. The day-to-day operation of radar is achieved using RTS. Also, it is used as a test tool for development of any subsystem, because of its capability to inject known targets. High speed target generation helps few classes of radars to test their capability to track high speed targets as these targets are rarely available in real scenario. This paper describes a mechanism to generate targets for different bands using common IF chain after down conversion.
