Abstract
The Physical Optics (PO) approximation is investigated as tool for analysis of scattering problems involving coated electrically large conducting platforms. The PO-derived current is corrected by including additional terms that account for diffraction phenomena. Numerical example demonstrates usefulness and limitations of the approach and compares results for conducting and coated plate.
