Powering requirements and considerations for FITL systems

Abstract

The issue of powering for fiber-in-the-loop (FITL) systems is discussed, and possible changes to Bellcore's requirements documentation as FITL system and power technologies continue to evolve are reported. In particular, possible alternative architectures and powering of FITL systems transporting video services are included. One possible network evolution that might relegate powering to a minor concern is examined.
