The timeliness of our topic is that nowadays social media is one of the easiest solution for a company to reach the target audience, get feedback on its products/services, initiate instant communication that contributes to customer loyalty and it provides them free advertising opportunity. The aim of our research is to examine the role of social media in the life of enterprises in the Nitra district within Slovakia. The methodology of our study is based on a quantitative questionnaire survey. Our research covers small and medium-sized enterprises operating in Nitra district. In our study, as a first step, the development path of social media is presented, and then the methodology of the work, the results of the research, and the possible future directions of the study are presented.
