Abstract
This paper presents, a comparative analysis of optimization techniques such as particle swarm optimization algorithm and water evaporation algorithm for the optimal location and sizing issue of non-dispatchable energy sources like wind energy in a distribution system. For extracting maximum benefit of high penetration of wind energy sources in distribution system, it is important to determine the optimal location and size. However, inappropriate location and size results in downgrading the operational performance of power system. In this paper, minimization of energy loss for one day is taken into account for the optimization of wind generation planning. The system is condition to the constraint like nodal power balance, node voltage limit and feeder current limit etc. This comparative analysis is performed on the IEEE- 33 bus radial distribution system and the result of the simulation is promising for the considered planning problem.
