Our paper presents an architecture of a communication system for manufacturing multimedia applications. The architecture guarantees better quality of service for real-time multimedia applications. It is based on an ATM intelligent network interface board based on a processor and a field programmable gate array components. The board implements flexible high-level real-time data services and relieves the host from networking load. Abstract
