Abstract

Background: Persisent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN) is often secondary to lung disease such as meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS) and is characterized by extrapulmonary right-to-left or bidirectional shunting at the foramen ovale and/or patent ductus arteriosus (PDA).
