Abstract

Solutions to the basic technological and methodological problems associated with the actual use of information technology systems in the healthcare area: security and privacy of medical information; social and professional acceptance of information systems; integration and use of medical knowledge; inclusion of healthcare professionals’ expertise; lack of centralized control; communication standards and integration with various types of software and hardware devices are challenges that can be felt in many regions, specially when we implement applications custom-made to well defined requirements and specific circumstances.
