Abstract
This paper presents a methodology to obtain the parameters of the equivalent circuit for induction motor from nameplate and manufacturer catalog data sheet information. The proposed method is straight and non-iterative. The variation of rotor parameters for deep bars or double cage rotors is modeled and presented as a function of the slip. The results of remarkable points such as the starting current, starting and breakdown torques, and rated conditions, are compared with the supplied data showing special agreement. The methodology was applied to hundreds of motors and a statistical analysis is presented, showing that the equivalent circuit typical parameters can be readily estimated in the absence of further data.
