Abstract

This paper summarizes fractal antenna designs that have improved performance over conventional fractal antenna. A real coded genetic algorithm code in MATLAB\TM is developed that plugs on to electromagnetic simulation software IE3D\TM to search for a suitable design of a Sierpinski gasket microstrip patch antenna. The same code is further modified to optimize a Sierpinski carpet monopole antenna with a coplanar wave-guide feed.
