Abstract

We have evaluated the Σ nucleus optical potential with a minimum of theoretical input, relying particularly on phenomenology. With this potential we have looked for the bound states in several nuclei, with the result that in light and medium nuclei several states have widths smaller than the separation between neighboring states.
