Abstract

In this paper, a study about the various routing protocols like Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Routing Information Protocol (RIP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) is done in terms of network convergence time, bandwidth requirement, CPU and Memory utilization. It is found that EIGRP performs better in terms of network convergence time and bandwidth requirements. OSPF and RIP perform better in terms of CPU and Memory utilization. Though EIGRP performs better, the major limitation is its Cisco Proprietary. By minimizing the OSPF flooding, Convergence time can be minimized. In order to minimize the flooding process, clustering technique is used.
