Abstract

The article explores if Regional Innovation Network Organizations (RINO) improve firms’ access to knowledge and innovation, and if so, what activities and support functions are relevant? Moreover, how do RINO characteristics and firm characteristics influence this outcome? A majority of the firms that have been studied maintain that RINO participation has improved their access to knowledge and innovation. However, this outcome varies with RINO-specific and firm-specific characteristics (e.g., participation frequency, size, dynamic capabilities and trust). The study builds on quantitative and qualitative data from five RINOs in Eastern Norway between 2014 and 2017.
